Rob has completed a clinical externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and is a member of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT).
EFT is a clinically proven, evidenced based approach to couple’s therapy that draws upon attachment theory to assist couples to identify negative and harmful cycles of communication in their relationship. The goal of EFT is to allow couples to better understand each other’s emotions and to enhance their connection through creating more supportive and effective strategies to communicate with each other.
EFT allows for opportunities for couples to heal and move forward after a trauma or crisis in their relationship. By considering each partner’s personal attachment history, EFT can provide a framework to allow couples to successfully avoid painful and frustrating cycles of communication.
